Assignment 2 Progress

Conceptualization:
I had a lot of references and inspiration when Madam Juhanita, our lecturer, showed us video clips of motion typography. I do not, however, have sketches of my time-based poster.

Creation:
1. I opened my Adobe Flash CS5, and set the stage size to 240 x 320 pixels, the frame rate to 12 and the colour to black.

.2. I imported to the stage the background layer from my assignment 1 as shown above.

3. I imported to the stage, the layers in my Assignment 1 onto the stage and converted them to movie clip symbols.

4. I removed all the layers except the background, 'even', 'the', and 'weak' layers. I clicked on the Motion Tween option in the background layer, and at frame 0, I changed the Alpha to 0. Then I clicked on frame 18, and changed the Alpha of the background to 100 again.

5. I arranged the words 'even', 'the' and 'weak' as shown above. All three words have Motion Tween options, and all three layers stop at the frame 70.

6. The layers 'become', 'strong' and the hands have Motion Tween option. All layers stop at frame 95 as shown above.

7. The layers 'when', 'they', 'are' and 'tunku' have Motion Tween option. All three layers stop at frame 130 as shown above.
8. The layer 'united' has Motion Tween option. The layer stops at frame 155 as shown above.

9. I duplicated all layers, and used Motion Tween option, to change the Alpha level from 1oo to 0 at frame 141 as shown above.

10. The Alpha levels of all duplicated layers are changed back to 100 subsequently as shown above.

11. Shown above is when all Alpha levels of all duplicated layers have been changed back to 100, the last layer at frame 216.

Adobe Flash. (Exercise 1)

A new semester, more new cool stuff to learn. In this semester, we are being taught on how to use Adobe Flash. A small exercise was given to us, which is to create a 4 second animation. Below is the finished product, in avi form.

The above are the pictures which I'm going to use in my animation. My theme is 'Michael Jackson'.

1. I opened my Adobe Flash (I'm using CS5), chose the ActionScript 3.0, then changed the size of the stage to 400 x 250 as per stated in our exercise requirement.

2. I changed the frame rate to 12 frames per second, then opened the Import to Library option under the File tab. I chose the 4 pictures which I'm going to use and imported them to my library.

3. I created a new layer in my timeline, then created a frame (shortcut key: F5) at the 48th frame to mark the end of my animation (12 frames per second, 4 seconds). I placed my background picture in my stage, then renamed the layer as 'background'.

4. I created a new layer, created a frame at the 48th frame again, and placed and arranged the picture as shown above. I then renamed the layer as 'picture 1'.

5. I created a new layer, created a keyframe at the 12th frame (shortcut key; F6), and placed and arranged the picture as shown above. I then renamed the layer as 'picture 2'.

6. I created a new layer, created a keyframe at the 24th frame (shortcut key; F6), and placed and arranged the picture as shown above. I then renamed the layer as 'picture 3'.

7. I created a folder, named it as 'pictures', and moved my picture layers into the folder as shown above.

8. I created a new layer, created a keyframe at the 36th frame (shortcut key; F6), and used the Type Tool and used 'Disintegration' font and font size 48, typing the words 'Michael Jackson' as shown above. I then renamed the layer as 'font'.

9. I opened the Filters tab, chose the Drop Shadow option, and chose orange colour for the shadow as shown above.

Retouching of E-Wallpaper.

As I've said earlier, I may edit my e-wallpaper, and I choose to do so. This is my e-wallpaper retouching process:

1. For my 1st e-wallpaper, I made a mistake when choosing the filter for the Christmas tree, so I wanted to do it again. So once again, I used the Quick Selection tool to select the Christmas tree.

2. I then clicked on the select inverse option after right-clicking the selected image to select the so-called 'background', and used the Blur tool to blur the 'background'.

3. I selected the Christmas tree again to rectify my mistake: Instead of choosing the Ink Outlines filter I chose the Paint Daubs filter, which wasn't exactly what I wanted. So I went into the Filter Gallery and selected my preferred filter.

4. After that, i reselected my 'background' and used the Watercolor filter again.

5. I selected the whole image and dragged it back to my workspace as shown above.

6. I resized the image to cover up the entire workspace, then I deleted the previous layer back, and renamed the new layer back.

7. Next, I wanted to edit my mistletoes as I still can see some irregularities there. So, I selected the two mistletoe images, opened the Filter gallery and selected the Poster Edges filter, and used the Blur tool to blur them.

8. The moon was next for editing. I adjusted the Outer and Inner Glow options as shown above so that the moon can glow brighter.

9. I've also moved the words a little to the left so that the moon's glow isn't blocked.

10. I then realized that the resolution that I was using was wrong, so I went to the Image Size option and changed the resolution to 72 ppi. After that, some of my layers were a little out of the way. So, I had to adjust them again.

11. Firstly, adjusted my type layer as the Drop Shadow, Outer and Inner Glow, and Bevel & Emboss-Texture options went wrong. So, I adjusted them back again as shown above.

12. Next was the moon, for it's Outer Glow option had to be corrected, and so I did.

13. Lastly, the carolers' Outer Glow option was also wrong, so I corrected it as shown above.

14. I then wanted to create some sort of texture for the wallpaper, so I placed a selected image as shown above and named the layer as texture.

15. I toyed with the opacity and fill of the layer.

16. When I was satisfied with the opacity and the fill, I created a layer mask and used the Brush tool to remove part of the texture layer so that certain parts of the wallpaper can be seen, as shown above.

17. This is my finalized e-wallpaper.
